Terms of Service

Effective date: October 21, 2026. Version: v1.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Tack On LLC (“Tack On,” “we,” “us”). They apply when you use tackon.io, the Tack On app, or any request, message or notification we send (together, the “Service”). Businesses that accept leads through Tack On Pro also agree to the Tack On Pro Terms. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

Please read section 13 (Disputes). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

1. What Tack On is, and what it isn’t

  • Tack On is an online service that passes your request for home repair work to independent plumbing, electrical and heating and air conditioning businesses (“Pros”) near you, and lets one of them accept it.
  • Tack On is not a contractor. We don’t perform, supervise, direct or warrant any work, and Pros are not our employees or agents. Any agreement for work is between you and the Pro.
  • We check certain things about Pros, described on our What we check page, such as state license records with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) or the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE). Those checks reflect public records and documents on the dates shown. They are no guarantee of a Pro’s workmanship, conduct, prices or availability, and you should make your own decision about whom to hire.
  • Tack On is not an emergency service. If anyone is in danger, call 911.

2. Who can use Tack On

You must be at least 18, able to form a binding contract, and requesting work at a property in an area we serve. You must give accurate information and keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for activity on your account.

3. Making a request

  • Describe the job honestly, including any hazards. We ask hazard questions first. For a gas smell, fire, smoke, live sparking or similar danger, we show emergency guidance and won’t send your request until you confirm the situation is under control. We rely on your answers and can’t verify them.
  • You must have the right to request work at the property, or permission from someone who does.
  • Your request is offered at the same time to eligible Pros working within 30 miles of the job. Before one accepts, Pros see the job type, a rough area and distance band, timing, your description and any photos you chose to share. They don’t see your name, phone number or exact address.
  • We may decline, pause or cancel a request, for example if it is outside our service area or categories, looks fraudulent, or involves a hazard that needs emergency services first.

4. When a Pro accepts

  • Only one Pro at a time can accept your request. As soon as their payment for it goes through, they receive your name, phone number, full address, job details and photos, and can message you in the app or call you.
  • By submitting a request you agree that the Pro who accepts it may contact you about that request, by in-app message, phone call or text. That Pro is responsible for how they contact you. They may use your details only for your request and may not send you marketing, and their access ends a set time after the request closes (currently planned as 30 days).
  • If no Pro accepts in time, we tell you so. We don’t widen the search beyond 30 miles.

5. Contact deadlines and asking for a different Pro

Pros have deadlines to contact you after accepting:

  • urgent jobs: first contact within 5 minutes, and two-way contact within 30 minutes;
  • same-day jobs: within 15 minutes and 2 hours;
  • scheduled jobs: within 2 business hours, and at least 24 hours before your window.

You can ask us for a different Pro if the Pro misses a contact deadline, doesn’t show up for an appointment you agreed, or for a conduct problem reported to support. This can happen up to 2 times per request. If you are already in touch with a Pro and simply want someone else, we close the request and you can submit a new one.

6. Prices and payment

  • Tack On doesn’t charge you to send a request. Pros pay us a fixed fee for each request they accept; you pay us nothing. If that ever changes, we will tell you the price before you submit, and it won’t apply to requests already sent.
  • You agree the price, scope, schedule, permits, warranty and payment for the work directly with the Pro, and you pay the Pro directly. Tack On doesn’t collect payment for work and isn’t a party to your agreement with the Pro.

7. Messages and your content

  • You keep ownership of what you post (descriptions, photos, messages). You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process and show it as needed to run the Service, including sharing it with the Pro who accepts your request and handling support and disputes.
  • Use in-app messaging first where you can. We keep messages so we can handle refund reviews, disputes and reports of misconduct, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Don’t post anything unlawful, threatening, harassing or false, or anyone else’s personal information without permission.

8. Rules for using the Service

You agree not to:

  • submit fake, duplicate or test requests, or requests for someone else’s property without permission;
  • use the Service to collect Pros’ information for other purposes, or to advertise to them;
  • scrape, copy or resell any part of the Service, or access it with bots or automated tools;
  • interfere with, probe or attack the Service, or get around its limits or security; or
  • break any law, or harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

9. Text messages

Tack On LLC only texts you one-time verification codes, when you confirm your phone number on a request or sign in. We don’t send status, reminder or marketing texts; updates come by app notification or email. A Pro who calls or texts you does so from their own phone. Details are on our text message page. Message and data rates may apply.

10. Our role and disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We give no warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that a Pro will be available, or about any Pro’s work. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act or other laws that can’t be waived.

11. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows: (a) we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data; (b) we are not liable for the acts, omissions, work, products or conduct of any Pro or other user; and (c) our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to US$100. These limits don’t apply to liability that can’t be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for our gross negligence or willful misconduct.

12. Your responsibility to us

If you break these Terms or the law and that causes a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.

13. Disputes

  • Talk to us first. Before filing any claim, email support@tackon.io with your name, a description of the problem and what you want. We will try to resolve it within 30 days.
  • Disputes with a Pro about their work, price or conduct are between you and the Pro. We may help by sharing the request record, but we aren’t a party to that dispute.
  • Law and courts. Texas law governs these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any claim that isn’t resolved informally will be decided by the state or federal courts in Collin County, Texas, or a small-claims court where you live if your claim qualifies.

14. Ending your account and changes to these Terms

You can delete your account at any time in the app, on the web at tackon.io, or by emailing support@tackon.io. We may suspend or end your access for a breach of these Terms or to protect users or the Service. If we change these Terms in a material way, we will notify you in the app or by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect, unless the law requires a change sooner. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new Terms.

15. General

These Terms, with the policies they link to, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If a part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. Failing to enforce a part of these Terms isn’t a waiver.
