What we check
What we verify, and what we don’t
We only tell you what we have checked ourselves against a real source, and we show the date we checked it. If we haven’t verified something, we say nothing about it.
What we check
Texas licenses
Every company license and every individual license is matched to TDLR or TSBPE public records before a pro can accept requests. We re-check them at least every 36 hours, and a lapsed license stops new leads.
The license holder is real
The person named on the company license (the master electrician, the A/C contractor licensee or the Responsible Master Plumber) creates their own account and confirms the business link.
Identity
Each pro confirms who they are with a government ID and a live selfie, and the name must match the license.
HVAC insurance
An HVAC company can’t accept leads until we confirm its general liability coverage with the insurer or the agent. A certificate the pro uploads isn’t enough on its own.
Plumbing insurance on file
TSBPE records show whether a Responsible Master Plumber has liability insurance on file, and through what date.
Electrical insurance
Not required to join. We only mention coverage for an electrician when we have confirmed it with the insurer.
What we don't check
- Background checks. They are not part of the launch. If we add them, we will show the date and what the check covered, only for pros who completed one.
- Quality of work, prices or punctuality. A license shows a pro met the state’s requirements, not how a particular job will go.
- Permits for your job. Ask your pro whether the work needs one.
What you'll see on a pro's card
Every card names the authority, the license number and the date of our last check. If a check is done by hand on a board's website, the card says so.
Tack On connects you with independent professionals. We are not a contractor and do not perform the work. Verifications reflect public records and documents on the dates shown and are not a guarantee of work quality.
